So, I have chosen 8 makeup removers to test their texture, PH and cleansing power. These brands are very popular and they are choices of my friends. Product Test and Comparison
My Personal Feelings
I have taken a bit of each makeup remover to my palm and feel the texture. I think most of the textures are creamy and smooth. Well, I just think Avene and Vichy are very watery and they do not give me the normal cleansing feeling from creamy makeup remover. I like the texture of Guerlain gel makeup remover the most because it is so light and fresh. It becomes a smooth and rich layer of oil after I have massaged for a while.
Giorgio Armani
It has a pump bottle design so the makeup remover is less likely to be contaminated. The texture is creamy, nourishing but light.
DHC
This makeup remover is not as liquid as the one from Giorgio Armani. It feels as light as cream. The smell is pleasant.
Bobbi Brown
It is a translucent liquid. It is light and a bit sticky.
Avene
I would say the texture is very similar to water, extremely light and fresh. The smell is pleasant.
CHANEL
It has a pump bottle design so the makeup remover is less likely to be contaminated. The texture is creamy. It has s nice smell of lily.
MAKE UP FOR EVER
The blue makeup remover is a creamy and rich liquid.
Guerlain
This makeup remover is in a gel texture, which is very light. It turns into a thin layer of oil after a massage.
Vichy
The texture is very similar to Avene, very similar to water, extremely light and fresh.
The second test I performed is a pH test. Almost all makeup removers claim that they are gentle and mild. I tested their pH values with pH papers. The best pH value should be around 5.5, slightly acidic. So, most of the brands’ pH actually range from 5 to 5.5. Giorgio Armani (pH6.5-7) and MAKE UP FOR EVER (pH8) are not mild enough.

Finally, it comes to the cleansing power to test. A makeup remover only worth it when its cleansing power is strong. All the brands claim that they can effectively remove makeup, even the waterproof makeup. Of course, there are some of them have better performances. Bobbi Brown and MAKE UP FOR EVER have the strongest cleansing power.
Giorgio Armani
The cleansing power is not really good as you can see some rouge cannot be removed.
DHC
The cleansing power is stronger than that of Giorgio Armani. Massage helps remove makeup more effectively.
Bobbi Brown
This is one of the best makeup remover. You can see, all the makeup is gone with just a wipe. Besides, it is gentle and mild and I feel no dryness.
Avene
This is a non-rinse makeup remover. The cleansing power is about average. Small amount of makeup is still there.
CHANEL
The cleansing power is similar to Avene, about average. Small amount of makeup is still there.
MAKE UP FOR EVER
The cleaning power is excellent, which makes sense because of it is pH8.
Guerlain
I feel very comfortable when using this makeup remover, but the cleansing power is not really good.
Vichy
cleansing power is not really good.
