How to Use an Eyelash Curler

in Eye Makeup, Makeup Tools, Makeup Tutorial

No matter you would like to apply your makeup or not, it is always a good idea to curl your eyelashes. Curling your eyelashes makes your eyes look bigger and brighter. Many of you may be a little bit frightened to use such metal or plastic tool to your delicate eyelashes. You may hear from others that they feel really painful when using the eyelash curlers.

For the normal manual metal or plastic curler, you should follow the following steps:

1.    You should clean your eyes as it works best for eyelash curlers. You may apply your eye shadow and eyeliner first but make sure you allow it sometime to dry. Never apply mascara before curling your eyelashes.

2.    For metal curler, you can turn on your blow dryer blow the hot air to the curler for 5 -10 second. Feel the metal to see if it is too hot, if not you can use it right now. This action is to make the ordinary metal curler function as the heated eyelash curler. For plastic one, this is not suitable and you can skip this procedure.

3.    Prepare yourself with the best eye position for eye lashes to be curled. Look downwards at around 45 degree. If you are not used to such position which hinder you to see your own action. You can put a mirror in front of you and tilt the mirror a little upward to help.

4.    You can now open the curler, clamp your eyelashes near the roots. Hold for 10-30 seconds. When I mean hold, you should hold it. Some people clamp for 5-6 times over the 10 seconds, which may not result in better result than just holding it! When you hold the eyelash curler, try to even out your force so that force can be spread from the pad evenly to the eyelashes.

5.    After clamping the eyelashes near the roots, move the eyelash curler a bit towards the end of eyelashes and clamp the eyelashes again at the middle part (the middle between the end and the roots). This procedure is taught by the makeup professional!

6.    (You do not need to curl the lower lashes!).

7.    Open your curler and then remove it!

8.    Repeat on the other eye.

A final reminder is to be very careful as both your eyes and eyelashes are very delicate and fragile! Try the eight steps above immediately to make your eyelashes curler!
